Biography
I was born and raised in Mill Valley, California. The first time I left for an extended period was when I began college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
After five years and three majors, I left CMU with one degree in Industrial Management and an additional major in Economics. Despite my business-centric education, all my internships had been in the product development group at Netscape Communications. With that background and the internet sector starting to bubble up, I decided to pursue a career in technology. Having previously determined that I was really a west coast guy and through a number of different coincidences I accepted a job at Amazon.com and packed for Seattle, Washington.
After spending a couple years as a software development engineer and then manager in QA, I moved to Amazon's Personalization and Automation department. The five and a half years I worked in P13N was split between Technical Program Management and running the Targeted E-mail group. In January of 2006 I left P13N to become the manager of the Community Content Team.
I currently reside in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle with my girlfriend Lia Steakley.
