Dinner. It's that time when you eat things. Tonight while making dinner I went through the the standard steps. Preheated the oven, prepared the chicken, got out a pan, sprayed it with Canola Oil, placed the chicken in the pan. It all of the sudden occured to me, "What the hell is a Canola?"
I use all kinds of different oils when cooking. It all just depends on the requirements. Peanut Oil, Olive Oil, Corn Oil, they all have uses. I also know what they all are.
As always, Wikipedia came to the rescue. There is no such thing as a Canola. Canolaâ„¢ is a trademarked variety of rapeseed (not a very marketable name). The name comes from a contraction of "Canadian oil, low acid".
Trademarked! Who knew?
